gcAE 4.17

gcAE is a compact utility designed to facilitate interactions with geocaching websites. Originally conceived as an action extension to streamline common tasks on geocaching platforms, the tool has evolved significantly with version 4.0, now incorporating a dedicated Safari extension compatible with iOS 15. This enhancement allows for even quicker access to the available functions directly within the browser.

The main application enables users to configure a variety of actions tailored to their needs on geocaching sites. Available functionalities include:

• Copying gc codes to the clipboard
• Copying gc links to the clipboard
• Copying personal notes
• Copying both gc links and personal notes together
• Copying cache listing coordinates
• Creating calendar entries (requires user confirmation via local notifications)
• Opening geocaches in installed geocaching apps such as Cachly
• Launching navigation apps with cache coordinates
• Solving reverse caches—optimized for -waldmeister- reverse caches, with basic support for day1976 reverse caches (see Wiki Entry)

In addition, gcAE offers actions that can be automatically executed upon activation on specific geocaching websites, provided these are enabled by the user:

• Removing disclaimer banners
• Decrypting and displaying hints
• Removing advertisements
• Hiding print sections
• Cleansing attribute areas
• Cleaning inventory sections
• Removing embedded maps
• Eliminating extraneous links
• Automatically fetching and displaying favorite percentages

The application supports a range of popular geocaching and navigation apps. The main app dynamically lists those installed on the device for easy access.

The previous action extension remains available, maintaining compatibility and covering all functions available in the Safari extension.

This extension also facilitates passing gc codes from shareable emails directly into geocaching applications. Simply long-press the email link, select 'Share,' and choose gcAE to open the code within your preferred geocaching app.
